02.21.2010 I was spending some time with my brother sometime in the mid of last week. We were driving in his local area as we were talking about death, our thoughts and beliefs of it, and how we - as human beings - naturally in instinct, try to prevent it through modern medicine, health, safety, all in the face of fear. Funny and strange enough - during our bizarre subject, we witnessed something bizarre. Right as we were approaching a red light, and as we were still discussing the sensitive subject, we saw in front of us what seemed to be a transient motioning the cars in front of him as if he was directing traffic. But what seemed to be oddly bizarre of this man was his facial features. Something so disturbing to the average person - this man's nose was inordinately huge - taking up half of his face from one cheek bone to the other. My brothers reaction was very natural. He was disturbed. He even mentioned that his stomach felt weak at the site of it. And as I saw this mans face and at the same time listened to my brothers disoriented response, I began to think that nothing was wrong with that individuals face. Yes, it may have been a tumor. It may have been a disease or excessive tissue that a very small percentage of people have. But the fact is that we perceive his face (and his situation) as disturbing only because we are not used to such a site. It was not something we see everyday. As an example, if everyone in a country on the opposite end of the world had this exact facial feature, they would not perceive it as we would. It is only when we see something in retrospect that we would realize that our natural reaction to such a visual was disturbing. It is only when we are used to a certain site that we seldom talk about it. It was Leonardo Da Vinci who said that the human being is attracted to symmetry. A natural form as we are given, and a natural acceptance and arrousal of the same. It is the infinite mind that sometimes becomes bored of repetitive occurrences or interests, and goes beyond its normal grounds to look for a further intriguing satisfaction, sometimes dangerously intriguing. But are we to give in to this satisfaction or fight such tempting feelings? Do we receive growth if we fight them since we already know that feeding this satisfaction will only result in more boredom? Naturally, it is easier to feed it and suffer its consequences possibly years and years later. It is difficult to fight something that makes us feel good at first. It's natural to feel discomfort at the idea that you may never get anything in return. But do you? 03.13.2007 THE IDES OF MARCH:
10.16.2006 There comes a time where we feel that we exclude the use of our nervous system and solely rely on what is the abundance of our adrenaline. As a hormone, adrenaline creates a nuance of vibes through our bodies in which we create or do something that we normally wouldn't do at a normal position. A loved one once told me that in order to acquire the essence of what we have created on a first-time basis, we must reacreate by realizing the steps that took place. Though these steps may have been a debut in our haunting ways, it was the seed that took hold of what creation planted in our mind at that time. If you've lost me on this then don't read on or simply read above once more. When this nuance was first experienced, I began to think that the epiphany was false and that my approach to this experience was a wrong step. Nine years later I realize that it was a solid cinderblock wall that I was simply breaking through and that my steps were correct and just -- in my own way. Every individual is somewhat created the same; However, we all have different personalities in which we BECOME an individual and not a man-made being of existance. Keep doing what you're doing, and you will get there. But you must believe it and you must believe IN it. 08.30.2006 Slavery has been around for centuries when it was finally abolished in the early 20th century [abolished huh? are you sure?]. I think of it many times here and there. Slaves were by the 100's even 1000's at a time. Working sugar cane, tabacco and cotton farms and doing nothing else in their fragile lives but work work work by the words of their 'owners' or 'masters'. Think of it as this: These precious lives, one by one, each had lives to live. They weren't programmed robots. They had feeling. They had emotion. If you think about it, if it wasn't for slavery, world potential would've been available. Amongst these slaves would have been musicians, inventors, innovators, builders, businessmen, husbands, wives, soldiers, cooks, artists, vendors, chemists and all the opportunities the world -- our world -- the world we share -- would have given every single individual. This is where it gets interesting: To show no human remorse to these HUMAN BEINGS captive within our own kind, we don't even know where half of these hardworkers, these prisoners, these suffered souls are buried if you decided to visit them at all. Not only were they whipped when not obeying, given only a single meal a day if any, Barely got any sleep because of the pain they were experiencing, and were worked under the hundred-plus temperatures of the sun...they weren't even given a proper burial that every human should have after they have left. To the beings that suffered not only their working time, but ever since they were born. To the ones who never enjoyed [or enjoy...slavery is still around. Research it!] life as every person should. This is an homage to you as I imagine how different the world would have been with its potential if you were all given a chance in life to be creative. 08.26.2006 I'm strolling down the street. A public area with restaurants and shops. This wasn't a residential area so there were many cars driving by, many people walking the sidewalks. In a fair distance, maybe around two-hundred feet ahead of me I see an elderly man walking toward me. This frail man, walking every step slowly, cautiously taking his time, is looking ahead, minding his own business. This gentleman, most likely retired, is probably walking to the local store, maybe taking care of some errands or even just enjoying the sunny day. With his suit jacket on (I can assure you that the outside temperature was over 80F) his shirt neatly tucked in his pants and an old golf hat securely on his head, I can see him nearing - probably at this point - about ninety feet ahead of me. As we near each other on this busy San Fernando Valley street, I see the elderly man violently trip and crash down on the sidewalk concrete without a noise escaping his mouth for help. This next thing I'm about to mention is what disturbed me and made me think: A man who was literally standing about three feet south of this fallen man fakely takes his cellphone out of his pocket and starts speaking into it as if he's on a phone call. Thereafter, he begins to walk away from the fallen man. I begin to run towards the fallen, helpless man to help him up. He was a foreign gentleman with no dialect of English whatsoever. The worried but smiling face of the elderly man brought joy to my heart. We are in a state of mind these days where morals and consiousness may sometimes become obsolete. An elderly man, who has the habit of wearing a suit jacket in eighty degree weather- who doesn't have a job, but still neatly tucks his shirt in- who has no obstacle left in life but to enjoy it- trips and falls on the ground helplessly and we take our cell phone and pretend to be on a phone call to avoid the supply of help? Why? Does it hurt to spare a few seconds of your time to help the fallen up? Even if this man's call was real and important, is it really that important? We aren't one to decide another's fate, but we can extend our hand to supply the need. I was shocked when I saw this. When we see an unfortunate accident on the street, we don't feel any remorse or sympathy for the people in that event, but we view it as entertainment. Bad enough where we end up being late for work 20 minutes because we had to slow down to be temporary spectators. Extend your hand, and other will do the same. At some point in your life here, remember that you will need it.
08.24.2006 Rejection is always a given. We don't understand the meaning and concept of rejection. It is the underlying concept of taste, of likes and dislikes, of style and the similar. It IS NOT the relation of moral, compromise, guilt, regret, consiousness and the similar. We get these two confused. Rejection is rarely surpassed because of pity. We as people are always trying to climb to the top of a mountain that sometimes may not be there. Preliminary visualization gives us the strife to view our goals before approached. Sometimes our visualization does not become reality because of lack of motivation, courage or even the event of rejection. We have a hard time realizing that falling off the boat after the first, second or even third time will give us less motivation. Some find this whole thing as a waste of time. Our tasks beome more difficult because of the population we live with in this generation. But with enough courage, motive and the strive to help ones self, this becomes surpassed, as does the concept of rejection.

To build the mind from the impure is the helpfulness in its essence. As we all pull along the things that we keep busy with in our daily lives, we forget that the impure mind is growing slowly, day by day. Thereafter, as suffering follows, we ask ourselves why? Don't ask why. He insulted me, he hurt me, he defeated me, he robbed me. Those who think such thoughts will not be free from hate. "For hate is not conquered by hate: hate is conquered by love. This is a law eternal." Instead of forming and becoming the visual learners that we are (meaning the internet that is now a manditory part of our lives, the television that we sit in front of, the telephones we stare at: Thus, giving us a new breed of lazy language, growth of hate and losing realization) we must acknowledge the way the given was. To do this, we measure self-realization, knowledge, love, education and many other important things that we must endure, but have forgotten. Read a book, plant a tree.
08.10.2006 This concoction called the mind is not something material. The brain that the mind apparently consists of is what's material. You can touch it. You may slice it in half and see what's inside. But the mind, the mind is only measured through peoples actions. You cannot touch the mind. It's not physical. The onion theory may be something fairly similar to my point. You may peel and peel and peel the layers of an onion one by one and finally get to the core of it...to find nothing. It truly amazes me. What human civilization has been through. What the human species have created, destroyed and improved. We are an interesting species. We feel embarrassed to show our naked selves, but little do we realize that the normal part of life among many other things is something man made. Clothing to cover our bare backs to prevent humiliation. This is all because of our given mind. We are born with it. We understand and comprehend that we think, and our thoughts and education grow everyday--every year of our lives. We understand that the mind consists of emotions. We cry or feel sad when we are humiliated. We grieve over loss of loved ones. We feel happiness when we find joy in ourselves...all because of the mind. It would be gracious so state that our God-given minds would bring positivity toward one another. Unfortunately everything comes with the extra baggage. GreedCheatLieStealEnvyHateAngerFathomJelousyLustCowardnessPain and all the spectrum of events that flow through these things-- of course-- caused by the mind. 07.19.2006 During sometime in early 1967--his last year before departure from the world, J Paul Getty mentioned that from early on in his life, he had it well. J Paul Getty was an influence on many people including his peers, his fellow family members as well as the rest of the world. In his last year--that being 1967--Getty wanted the world to know--to understand that we are living in a Capitalist World. A world of business, industrialism and the constant circulation of trade. He claimed that because of this, there is no retort on sympathy, the care for others, and in some cases, morals. Getty mentioned that our sympathy and morals had been abolished and flooded by our obsession of personal gain and our symplistic view of a dream. Getty realized, then stated that in order for the world to gain control of it's everlasting life, it's beauty, it's peacefulness and it's normal function of growth, the human species must stop what they are doing and put their minds together positively. He finally stated that he had sincerely lost all hope in the world and the function of the human race amongst all his personal experiences in his fulfilled life, and that unless the human race doesn't step up and bring their equities together as a positive change, the world will indeed tear itself apart and without reason, give up on all living form. It is possibly because of lack of carefulness and thought--that the world has become what it is today...almost 30 years later...just as Getty had mentioned. |
